Having lived in their 1930s detached house for many years, our clients had a clear idea of how they wanted to extend and alter their property to make the space work better for them.

The project centred on a substantial side extension that would serve dual purposes: creating a new double garage at ground level, while adding valuable living space above. The upper floor extension houses a generously proportioned master bedroom suite complete with an ensuite bathroom, complemented by an adjacent study bedroom that provides flexible space for work or guests.

As passionate gardeners, the clients specifically requested a garden room that would extend their connection to the outdoors across all seasons. The space allows them to enjoy their garden year-round, regardless of weather conditions, creating a seamless transition between indoor comfort and outdoor beauty.

The street-facing elevation maintains traditional design elements that respect the original 1930s character and preserve the visual harmony of the neighbourhood. In contrast, the rear elevation embraces a more modern aesthetic, featuring timber cladding and a striking contemporary sunroom with sleek black framing that maximizes natural light and garden views.

This thoughtful extension successfully transforms a well-loved family home into a space that meets the practical and lifestyle aspirations of our client.
