Our clients came to us with a common challenge – their narrow kitchen in a traditional granite terraced home in Aberdeen’s West End just wasn’t working for their family’s needs anymore. The existing lean-to extension at the back was feeling cramped, and they wanted more room to cook, gather, and spend time together.

We designed a bright, welcoming extension that makes the most of the south-west facing aspect. By keeping part of the original lean-to and adding carefully planned new space, we created a kitchen that truly works for how this family lives.

Glazed sliding doors flood the room with natural light and open right up to the garden which is perfect for indoor-outdoor living. We added a brise soleil overhead to keep things comfortable during those (hopefully!) sunny Aberdeen summer days. A contrasting material was selected for the rear wall of the extension to highlight the new from the old.

The result is a kitchen layout our clients love using every day, plus a raised patio area that allows them to use the outdoor space.
