Aberargie

Location: Perth
Size: 1.9 hectare site

When KIC (Holdings) Ltd were looking to expand their business from running the Scottish Liqueur Centre into whisky manufacturing, packaging, and distribution, they came to us with an exciting vision. Their existing site offered little room for growth, so we helped them reimagine their business at a new Netherton, Aberargie location.

Our design created a complete whisky ecosystem – a distillery, bottling plant, bonded warehousing, and ancillary buildings all working in harmony. We designed portal frame structures with clear spans to maximize flexibility and future-proof their operation. The buildings feature green cladding that reflects the rural setting and softens their outline against the Scottish landscape. In the distillery building, we added a striking glass gable that floods the distillation hall with natural light and showcases those beautiful copper stills to visitors.

What we love about this project is its sustainable ‘grain to glass’ approach. Locally grown barley arrives at one end, and bottled whisky emerges at the other – with by-products recycled back to local farms as animal feed and fertilizer. We carefully arranged the buildings to create the most efficient workflow, minimising transport and vehicle movements throughout the process.

Working alongside Algo Construction as the main contractor, we’re bringing this £7,000,000 development to life on a 1.9-hectare site. The project continues to evolve, with additional storage buildings planned for the future – ensuring KIC Holdings has room to grow for years to come.
